Wayne St Wayne
I met Wayne St Wayne around 1970, when I was starting to work full time for Sam Muchnick and Wayne was getting deeply interested in becoming a professional wrestler. Wayne began training with the astute and rugged Joe Millich, who was a close friend of mine. While Wayne eventually did have a nice run in the wrestling business (unfortunately only in his hometown a few times), ''way back when'' he displayed another talent.
Wayne was a terrific photographer. Maybe since he was learning wrestling in the ring, he could just sense that moment when to click the camera and get action plus a face...but the skill was there. Wayne is now back in St Louis, of course, and also shows one of this other unique talents..he's a gifted artist.
Luckily, Wayne discovered plenty of his old pictures from the early 1970s and several are in my book Wrestling at the Chase. There wasn't room for everything, of course, but this site gives us a chance to display more of Wayne's action shots. Hopefully, everyone will be able to attach a memory to each picture.
